Nicolas founded Cyborg in 2013 to pursue his research in the field of information theory. Through Cyborg's first few years, Nicolas developed the mathematical basis for a number of patented technologies.
Under his leadership, developments in compression technology have evolved to a pinnacle moment, the launch of Stealth.
Senior Software Engineer
A 20-year Bell Labs veteran, and a leader in the field of data compression and encoding, Glenn has been key to Cyborg’s technical success.
Glenn joined Cyborg in 2017 to shape our engineering efforts, and he continuously builds Cyborg's framework for organized and efficient software development.
Alex is Cyborg's main compression developer, building the core of Stealth for all its implementations and embodiments. He started his career in France, working as an electronics engineer in the defense sector.
After relocating to the United States in 2017, Alex joined Cyborg.
Oliver Parfitt van Pallandt
As Cyborg's first outside hire, Oliver's role as software engineer began as many a startup employee – everyone does everything. Since our early days, Oliver has shaped much of our work and helped set a path for our research in different domains.
Oliver joined Cyborg in 2016. He is now based in the Netherlands, where he is continuing his education alongside his duties for the company.
Xiaodong Wang, PhD
Arguably one of the most respected voices in the field of information theory, Dr. Wang is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University. His research career has aligned him much with Cyborg's path, from data compression to high-performance networking.
Dr. Wang joined Cyborg as an advisor in 2017. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University.
Gil Zussman, PhD
Dr. Zussman is a leader in the field of telecommunications – particularly in the wireless sector. He is a Professor at Columbia University, where he also heads up the Wireless and Mobile Networking Lab, where his research in millimeter-wave wireless has gained significant recognition.
Dr. Zussman has been on Cyborg's Advisory Board since 2017. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
Xue (Steve) Liu, PhD
Dr. Liu has been conducting innovative research and product developments through 3 roles. (1) as a University Professor in Canada and the US; (2) as a Researcher in corporate research labs; (3) as a Practitioner and Entrepreneur in tech startups. Dr. Liu's deep technical expertise and business insight have made him an invaluable member of Cyborg's operation.
Dr. Liu joined Cyborg in 2018. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
After 18 years at Microsoft, including as the Director of Bing, Stefan shifted gears to the small business scene – advising tech startups on how to successfully navigate the treacherous waters of the tech industry.
Since joining, Stefan has decisively helped shape Cyborg's strategy for future growth.
A lawyer-turned-investor-turned-entrepreneur, Chris has years of varied experience in a number of sectors – all of which are invaluable to Cyborg. Alongside Stefan, Chris largely shapes Cyborg's business development future – from our existing customers to future strategy.
